Internship At a Sustainable Tourism Agency & Fair Trade Café in Chachapoyas, Peru

Stage

Stage posté(e) par Otra Cosa Network

Publié le : 9 janv. 2013

Description du stage

Chachapoyas, a growing tourist destination in Northern Peru, has started its first and only sustainable tourism agency called 'Nuevos Caminos' (New Paths). This is a project with a clear, alternative philosophy of promoting environmentally responsible tourism. It aims to minimize any environmental damage caused while tourists are exploring Peru by offering 'carbon offset' programs for tourists.

The agency also promotes socially responsible tourism, providing alternative experiences from the standard 'gringo trail' tours. Nuevos Caminos offers the type of tours that allow tourists to experience, and get inspired by, the true spirit of Chachapoyas and the surrounding area. It is designed for tourists interested in having a more grassroots type of contact with local communities. Nuevos Caminos aims to encourage international tourists to be fully aware of their environmental impact and influence on local people, supporting the community and giving something back to it whenever possible.

This is an ideal internship opportunity for e.g. a student in tourism and hospitality management or other related fields.
