SAFE, Inc. provides crisis intervention and advocacy services to over 5,000 domestic violence victims each year in the DC Metro Area. Our mission is to ensure the safety and self-determination of domestic violence survivors in Washington, DC through emergency services, court advocacy and system reform. SAFE, Inc. began as part of the DC Coalition Against Domestic Violence in 1997 with one advocate and became an independent organization in 2006. Since then, SAFE has become a leading force in the fight against domestic violence in the District of Columbia.
SAFE is hiring (2) Development Interns to help manage various funraising opportunties - events, drives, grants, etc. This is a great opportunity for people interested in careers in Non-profit Mangement, Organizational Studies, Domestic Violence or Development. Because SAFE is a small, grass roots organization, the Development Intern will have significant responsibility and will be working closely with SAFE's Executive Directors.
The Development Intern will:
Help to plan and execute fundraising events,
Research, identify, and cultivate potential funding and donation sources,
Update SAFE's social media,
Work with Executive Directors to develop grant proposals,
Coordinate online and mail-out fundraising programs.
QUALIFICATIONS
Currently attending or recently graduated from an accredited college,
A strong, persuasive writer,
Highly entrepreneurial,
Highly developed social skills,
Previous development experience helpful, but not required,
Knowledge of DC resources and geography helpful, but not required,
Possess an interest in social media, event planning and community education.
