The Methanol Institute is seeking an intern for the Spring, 2013 semester.
The Methanol Institute (MI) serves as the global trade association for one of the world's most vibrant and innovative industries. Founded in 1989 to lobby the U.S. Congress in support of methanol fuel markets, MI now serves its members in every corner of the globe from our offices in Singapore, Washington, D.C., and Brussels.
Responsibilities of the position include: • Conducting qualitative and quantitative research to develop fact sheets, white papers, and issue briefs • Drafting correspondence including memos, newsletter articles, and notes from congressional hearings • Formatting weekly issue of Methanol Matters newsletter and posting it to our website • Sending methanol source requests received through our company website • Acting as the key liaison between MI and the general public by answering phones, responding to requests for information, and mailing packages • Updating Microsoft Outlook database of contacts • Updating news stories on the MI website on a daily basis • Other duties as assigned.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE will possess experience using Microsoft Office, will have previous experience working in an office; and will have a willingness to take initiative and work independently in an energetic and progressive office environment, with opportunities to participate in a diverse range of assignments. Experience using Microsoft Publisher is preferred, but not required. You should be a concise writer, have excellent telephone and interviewing skills, precision timing and the ability to conduct research through printed documents and on the Internet. MI is located 3 blocks from King Street Metro in Alexandria, VA.
The internship pays $10.00 per hour. We also offer academic credit and solid work samples. The position is available January, 2013 for 20 hours per week and can be extended if desired.
