Description du stage

The Dialogue Project (501c3) creates the opportunity for New Yorkers – Palestinians, Israelis, Jews, Muslims, new immigrants, long time citizens, and others of many ethnicities and cultures – to come together to explore differences and commonalities, build mutual trust, and establish partnerships across inter-group divisions. We support community in which truth-telling and open-mindedness are valued: we name the unnamed, speak the unspoken, become enriched by our diversity.

Core program areas include:

  • Middle East Monthly Dialogue Circles
  • Dialogue Workshops and Facilitation Trainings
  • Coffee & Conversation (new immigrant and long time neighbor ESL program)
  • Brooklyn Youth Dialogue Corps.
  • Public Forums – Palestinian, Israeli, Muslim, and Jewish participants share their experiences with synagogues, churches and others.

Hours: 8-10 hours per week

Compensation: Transportation stipend will be provided. Will work with intern to provide academic credit if desired. This internship can grow into a part-time position.

Responsibilities:

  • Administrative and outreach work with new immigrants and long time citizens of diverse cultures- Israelis, Palestinians, Jews, Muslims, adults and youth in NYC
  • Managing computer updates, data, and researching media and non-profit organizations for partnership opportunities
  • Design flyers, update website (through dreamweaver)

Requirements:

  • Experience with teens
  • Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Outlook (contacts and email distribution)
  • Experience with Dreamweaver is a plus
  • Knowledge of Arabic, Hebrew, Persian, Turkish and/or Spanish is a plus
  • Must live in New York City

Eligibility: This position is located in Brooklyn, NY. This position is perfect for undergraduates who desire work experience in the grassroots non-profit sector.
