Technical Services Assistant - Fellowship

About Starfish Project: Starfish Project was established in 2006 to empower exploited women in Asia. The Project developed a socially responsible jewelry business in order to provide women with alternative employment and a range of holistic care opportunities. In 2011, the project has grown to support approximately 35 women in 2 different cities, primarily through the jewelry company where women have taken on new levels of responsibility and leadership, and are able to provide for their families through meaningful employment. Starfish Project also provides opportunities for women to heal and grow through counseling, vocational training, language acquisition, family education benefits and health care access, as well as providing housing in our women's shelter. Location: Asia Office

Department: Operations/Technical Services

Role & Purpose: To assist the Technical Projects Manager in the implementation of technical projects, and to provide basic maintenance and technical support when necessary.

Commitment: 6 months- 1 year, full-time

Reports to: Technical Projects Manager

Key Tasks & Responsibilities

  • Assist the Technical Projects Manager in the implementation of projects as needed
  • Manage and maintain the company website and online store
  • Assist in managing and maintaining the office domain server
  • Provide maintenance and technical support for office staff
  • Assist with automation of data processing tasks
  • Research and report on potential solutions to technical issues
  • Assist in the writing of manuals and other documentation

Qualifications & Experience:

Mandatory:

  • Proficient computer management & maintenance abilities
  • Network management experience
  • Good capability with MS Excel formulae and macros
  • Flexible and adaptable, with the willingness and ability to learn on the job
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Disciplined work ethic.
  • Strict attention to detail
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work as part of a small team
  • An understanding of, and commitment to, the mission, vision and values of Starfish Project.

Preferred:

  • Ability with PHP, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, XML and SQL.
  • Website management experience
  • Proficiency in Mandarin Chinese
  • Experience working in an international and/or non-profit organisation
