Opportunity Music Project (OMP) is seeking a Program Manager to assist in the development and administration of its instrument instruction and mentoring programs, and events for motivated youth from low-economic backgrounds.
Opportunity Music Project, founded in April 2011, is an exciting organization that offers private instrument instruction, mentoring, chamber music, and performance opportunities to children and teens, free of charge. Opportunity Music Project is inspired by the revolutionary social movement "El Sistema" but has its point of differentiation in the service students return to their community through outreach performances in alternative venues and strong focus on leadership training.
The Opportunity Music Project internship offers extensive events-based experience working closely with the founder/ executive director, teaching artist mentors, and the students' communities. The Project Manager will have the opportunity to develop skills and acquire significant arts management experience in the non-profit sector, including:
DEVELOPMENT & EVENT PLANNING
Assistance with organization of annual benefit concert
Experience working with online crowdfunding tools
Foundational, government, and corporate grant research
ORGANIZATIONAL & PROGRAMMATIC
Coordination of various OMP student activities including lessons, recitals, and outreach concerts
Communication with performance venues and musical vendors
MARKETING
Extensive opportunity to develop material and reach out to media/PR channels about OMP concerts, events, and news
