While meeting the immediate need for food in the five boroughs, City Harvest ensures hungry New Yorkers have the food they need on an ongoing basis. Healthy Neighborhoods is a suite of programs designed to improve healthy food access and knowledge in four neighborhoods within New York City (fifth coming soon). Working directly with residents, businesses, and community organizations, City Harvest's goals are to relieve food insecurity, build nutritional knowledge at the individual, family, and community levels, and increase the access people have to affordable fresh fruits and vegetables.
The Corporate Partnerships department is seeking a Skip Lunch Fight Hunger intern who will report to our Manager, Corporate Partnerships. The successful candidate will receive a stipend. Part of City Harvest's Childhood Hunger Initiative, Skip Lunch Fight Hunger is a fundraising initiative that encourages corporations to form teams that donate what they would normally spend on lunch to help fight hunger in New York city. Skip Lunch Fight Hunger will run from May 13, 2013 – May 17, 2013, with planning and initial team outreach beginning in January. This is an excellent opportunity for a student interested in pursuing a career in the field of non-profit management and specifically in corporate/community sponsorships and partnerships.
