The Center for International Private Enterprise (CIPE) strengthens democracy around the globe through private enterprise and market-oriented reform. CIPE is one of the core institutes of the National Endowment for Democracy. Since 1983, CIPE has worked with business leaders, policymakers, and journalists to build the civic institutions vital to a democratic society. This internship is an opportunity to gain experience while supporting CIPE's Global department. It will focus on one of CIPE's core themes: capacity building of business associations.
Responsibilities:
Candidates should be enthusiastic about the role of business and business associations in democratic societies and international development. Bachelor's degree, or currently enrolled college or graduate student in political science, international relations, business, or economics majors is preferred. This internship requires strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Prior internship experience required. Prior office work experience strongly preferred.
The position entails 15-20 hours per week from mid-January through May 2013 at CIPE's headquarters in Washington, DC; exact days and hours are negotiable. This is an unpaid internship, though a stipend will be provided to cover transportation.
