GOALS: Create a formal curriculum for creative reuse arts & crafts which can then be used when going to summer camps, craft fairs, schools, etc. Make a database of relevant summer camps, community organizations, etc. that we may partner with in the future to have a craft table/activity.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Focus on one or two age groups or experience levels and pull together instructions for creative reuse crafts and activities
- Edit these for formatting consistency and compile into one document which can be easily referenced in the future for events and workshops
- Research and reach out to local summer camps, community organizations, etc. to find out if they would like to partner with SCRAP DC for future craft tables, camp activities, etc.
COMMITMENT:
- SPRING intern must be able to commit to a regular schedule of 10-15 hours per week. SUMMER intern must be able to commit to a regular schedule of 15-20 hours per week during the summer.
- Hours will be be relatively flexible with some key deadlines and check-in points to be determined at the beginning of the internship
- Interns should plan on spending a few hours in-store during our regular open hours (Thursday from 12-8, the first Friday of the month from 6-9pm and the third Saturday of the month from 10am-1pm)
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Excitement and passion for the environment, arts and education...which boils down to a passion for creative reuse!
- Self-directed, willing to take initiative on projects
- Motivated, creative, energetic
- Highly organized
- Familiarity with crafting techniques and/or interest in learning project details
- Proficiency in computer editing and/or design programs
OTHER:
- Material supplies necessary to develop or "test" curriculum will be provided from what is in stock at SCRAP
- Interns will need their own computer and telephone for research and outreach.
