MapLight, an innovative, award-winning nonprofit dedicated to revealing money's influence on politics, is seeking a Voter Information Intern to assist with our coverage of 2013 California elections for our Voter's Edge website. This position pays $10 per hour and is for 10 hours per week, from February to May, and is located in Berkeley, California (near BART).
Voter's Edge is a comprehensive, nonpartisan guide to ballot measures, bringing together all of the information voters need to make informed decisions on election day.
MapLight is a nonpartisan research organization that reveals money's influence on politics. We provide journalists and citizens with transparency tools that connect data on campaign contributions, politicians, legislative votes, industries, companies, and more to show patterns of influence never before possible to see. Hundreds of newspapers, TV stations, radio shows and online news sites have cited our research, including CNN, the public radio show "Marketplace," Harper's magazine, The Washington Post, Reuters, and The Wall Street Journal. MapLight has received numerous awards including a Knight-Batten Award for Innovations in Journalism, a James Madison Freedom of Information Award from the Northern California Chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists, and a Webby nomination for best Politics website.
