America for Animals is looking for an awesome person to help launch its social media campaign. The goal of the campaign is to encourage compassion towards animals and build awareness of the organization and its efforts. We want to do this in a way that's fun and engaging. So, if you're the awesome person running this campaign, you'll have a lot of latitude to try new things, test your ideas, and develop a strategy with our small, dedicated team.
We're a start-up nonprofit organization headquartered in San Diego, California. Our mission is to make a difference for animals by empowering advocates to promote compassion and fight cruelty in the communities where they live. Interning here means much more than menial labor and fetching coffee. You will be playing an essential role in developing our core programs and shaping the organization.
The internship will be geared toward your strengths, but will include some combination of…
- Writing and posting several Facebook status updates daily (including polls, photo captioning contests, etc.)
- Tweeting daily
- Mining Facebook, Twitter, and RSS feeds for animal stories, photos, etc.
- Using photoshop, or other types of creative software, to produce new content
- Monitoring activity
Preferred Qualifications:
- A great attitude
- Self-motivation
- Ability to thrive in an individual/virtual work environment
- An eye for quality
- A commitment of at least 10 hours/week
Compensation for interns:
- Unfortunately, nobody in the organization is getting paid (yet). However, the internship has the potential to turn into a paid position at some point in the future.
