Description du stage

Overview of Position: This is an excellent opportunity for those wishing to develop skills in non-profit fundraising - a much sought after and useful skill for social change activists. This intern will work with the Resource Development team. The intern will gain quality experience in the non-profit sector and benefit from collaboration with other Fair Trade USA departments including Producer Services and Grassroots Outreach.

Specific duties include:

  • Researching potential funding or sponsorship sources.
  • Maintaining foundation and donor records.
  • Assisting with mailings.
  • Writing for the web.
  • Assisting with building strategic partnerships.
  • Spanish translation (ideally).

Qualifications: • College/university degree or active enrollment, or equivalent experience. • Excellent written communication skills in English. • Strong interest in research, writing, and fundraising for nonprofit organizations. • Commitment to social justice and the role of Fair Trade in international development. • Familiarity with online writing and research. • Functional knowledge of Microsoft Office and the Internet. • Prior marketing, fundraising, or grant application experience is a plus. •Spanish or French language skills are a plus.

The internship will ideally begin in January 2013 and applicants must be able to commit to volunteering 10-20 hours per week. This is an unpaid internship, but reimbursement for local travel expenses is available.
