DESCRIPTION& RESPONSIBILITIES
GOALS: Strengthen and develop skills involved with day to day operations of a volunteer run retail store. RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Customer Service: We have a small space that's packed with lots of arts and craft supplies. You'll help customers find particular materials they're looking for as well as think outside of the box to find the perfect (and unconventional) material to help them get their project done
- Sales: Report all sales transactions according to SCRAP policy. Interns will have access to the store tablet for processing all transactions
- Store organization: Keeping an organized store is a never ending task. Whether it's color coordinating construction paper or folding fabric, there's always something fun to play with on the shelves
- Develop Creative Reuse Projects: If you have an awesome idea we want to see it come to life! When there's downtime in the store, creating is always an option (and taking materials home is a perk too)
- Coordinate In-Store Volunteer Tasks: SCRAP DC is a volunteer run operation and we always have enough for folks to do. You'll help develop and coordinate necessary volunteer tasks such as sorting donations, making SCRAP To-Go Kits, and creating eye catching displays

However, the intern is not required to be at all the open hours and we are also willing to consider hours outside of our current schedule. We'll agree upon a schedule at the beginning of the internship and ask you to commit to the schedule for 3-4 months, with a possibility for extending at the end of the term. Beginning and ending dates are flexible and will be agreed upon at the beginning of the internship.
