TITLE: Robert Capa Archive Internship at ICP
SCHEDULE: Minimum 2-3 days a week, 10am – 6pm
NOTE: In addition to their regular schedule, ICP interns are encouraged to participate in occasional educational events (will be announced).

SUPERVISOR'S TITLE: Curator, Robert Capa Archive
Founded in 1974 by Cornell Capa, the International Center of Photography ("ICP") is a museum and school devoted exclusively to the presentation, preservation, and study of photography. We are one of the few museums in the world which specializes in photography. Our education program is the largest photography school in the United States, providing a variety of courses and workshops for photographers at every level. ICP is a not-for-profit organization with an annual budget of $19 million and approximately 130 employees. We are conveniently located in midtown Manhattan on Avenue of the Americas at 43rd Street. INTERNSHIP DESCRIPTION: Intern will work at ICP on the Robert Capa Archive, one of the most treasured holdings within the ICP collection. The archive is currently cataloguing newly acquired Capa material, including thousands of prints, correspondence, and rare publications. The work requires careful, detailed work and some research. Knowledge of and interest in mid-twentieth century European history is valuable to be able to engage with the stories depicted.
MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED: Mature undergraduate, recent graduate, or graduate student.
QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS:
• Graduate or undergraduate student or recent graduate of Art History, History, and/or Library Science program preferred
• Highly motivated and trustworthy
• Detail oriented, thorough, and organized
• Museum or archival experience is preferred; we will provide training in photo handling
• Knowledge of Spanish, German, or Hungarian would be a plus to assist in archiving correspondence and ephemera
