Earthjustice's Northeast office (in New York City) is now accepting applications for a part-time office intern for fall 2013. This position is designed for undergraduate students in their sophomore, junior, or senior year, who can commit to a minimum of 15 hours per week, beginning in August or September 2013.
Earthjustice is a non-profit public interest law firm dedicated to protecting the magnificent places, natural resources, and wildlife of this earth and to defending the right of all people to a healthy environment. We bring about far-reaching change by enforcing and strengthening environmental laws on behalf of hundreds of organizations and communities. The organization operates out of nine regional offices, and the Northeast office focuses principally on issues related to coal-fired power, shale gas development (fracking), and environmental health.
Responsibilities: The office intern will work under the direct supervision of the office manager to provide administrative support for the Northeast Office staff. The intern will participate in a wide range of tasks that may include updating and maintaining media records and electronic files, travel planning and expense reimbursement, online research, updating and writing web content, and various tasks related to our upcoming office move. Through this internship, the intern will learn about the operations of a nonprofit environmental organization and gain insight into the environmental litigation and advocacy processes.
Qualifications: Qualifications include a commitment to environmental protection; excellent research, communication, and organizational skills; a strong work ethic; and working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs. We also value initiative, creative thinking, and the ability to work collegially with others. Prior office experience is a plus. There is no available compensation or benefits for this position, but we gladly will process any forms that will enable college students to obtain school credit or funding.
Application Procedure: Offers are made on a rolling basis, so applications should be submitted as soon as possible. Please send a cover letter and resume by e-mail to: email@example.com. The subject line should read: "NE Office Intern Application." No telephone calls.
