Progressive Arts Alliance is seeking an intern with an interest in the field of journalism, looking to expand their writing portfolio and gain valuable experience. The qualified application must work well independently. The position will allow the intern to cover and report on our dynamic student performances, programs, exhibits, film screenings, and other events. Interns must attend events, interview participants, and write and submit event articles on a tight deadline. Articles will be posted to our news blog on the PAA web site. Responsibilities will also include writing press releases, media advisories, and other reports. Intern will get the word out to local news channels, newspapers, and other media outlets about upcoming events. Intern will also publicize and advertise events, performances, and our program offerings to the public, and will also help maintain PAA's social media sites.
Hours: Approximately 3-15 hours a week, depending on programming and events taking place.
Qualifications
- Excellent writing and communication skills;
- Creativity and flexibility;
- Ability to work well independently and meet deadlines;
- Experience in news writing or journalism preferred;
