This internship is a wonderful opportunity for those interested in the inner workings of non-profit organizations. While this position is heavily concentrated on funding and the grant writing process, it is also great experience in terms of professional development and understanding policy. Under general direction, this position facilitates research, development, and constructing grant proposals. This includes basic research for potential funding sources, maintaining databases, and both leading and supporting staff in developing proposals.
·Diversify network of funding organizations and document it through maintaining a spreadsheet database
·Launch, review, and edit grant proposals through library and electronic research; compile data; inputs and retrieves data via computer
·Conducts research on potential funding sources; maintains contact with funding networks
·Work closely with staff in developing and transforming ideas into grant proposals
·Maintains funding opportunity databases, activity tracking system, and related confidential files
·Performs other duties as assigned
·Flexibility, drive(!) and a sense of humor
·Demonstrated interest in non-profit development
·Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
·Excellent written and verbal communication skills
·Knowledge of database management (not required, but helpful)
·Tact and diplomacy in a confidential environment
·Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs including Word and Excel
·Ability to handle a variety of tasks simultaneously
·Access to a personal laptop for internship.
·Interns must work at least one day per week for a minimum of 4 hours.
·Days and times are flexible.
·3 month commitment minimum
