The Organization
Teens Run Westchester (TRW) is a 501c-3 nonprofit organization and the only program of its kind in Westchester County, NY. Our mentoring-based approach utilizes distance running as a teacher and motivator to encourage success, leadership and healthy lifestyles. We partner young people with caring and inspiring adult mentors that guide them as they train for endurance events such as 5K, 10K runs and even marathons. Qualifications
We are looking for highly energetic individuals who are passionate about TRW's mission. Interns will work with the Executive Director and board members and be actively engaged in our work. Our programs are located across Westchester County and therefore hours and locations of activities will vary depending on your availability and responsibilities. Flexibility is a plus. We are open to applicants from any major/minor and year of graduation. This is a non-paid internship.
Focus Areas:
- Program, Education and Evaluation: Help us continue to enhance our program which encourages achievement, leadership and healthy habits. This may involve coaching at one of our sites or supporting TRW volunteers with the development and implementation of the program across the county.
- Development & Fundraising: Assist in developing and executing TRW's fundraising plans. This may involve developing new fundraising opportunities, helping us reach new individual donors or researching and writing grants.
- Communications & Marketing: Help us tailor our TRW messages to reach intended audiences. This may include using social media, helping craft specific and targeted messages and developing and executing marking plans.
- Administrative: Help support TRW volunteers by organizing and completing administrative tasks.
Requirements:
- Attend qualifying races and key events i.e. 5ks and half-marathons
- Observe & participate in 1-2 board meetings.
- Have regular access to transportation.
- Conduct a special project related to the specific focus area you choose for your internship.
- Complete a background check.
