As part of the Human Resources team, the recruiter will help with full cycle recruitment and onboarding. This is an excellent opportunity for someone interested in full-spectrum talent acquisition, in a fast paced, collegial and intellectually engaging nonprofit work environment.

The principal responsibilities of this position will include (but are not limited to):

  • Oversee full-life cycle talent acquisition process for a wide range of full time and part time positions (from publishing to research and digital) for the New York and Washington offices, including working directly with hiring managers, identifying recruitment sources, interviewing candidates, conducting reference checks, and making offers
  • Serve as the recruitment lead at local and out-of-state career fairs and conferences
  • Partner with director and recruitment team on diversity initiatives and other priorities.
  • Gain a thorough understanding of employee benefits programs and be able to convey these programs to candidates during the recruitment process
  • Respond to and track referrals and employment inquiries
  • Onboard all New York employees by processing new hire paperwork, fielding inquiries, guiding new staff members through training, and facilitating the New York new hire orientation
  • Support junior staff members with recruitment and HR team with staff events as needed, including foreign policy lunch series, skills training workshops, health and wellness program events, and staff outings

Qualifications

  • Minimum of three years related recruiting experience in a high profile organization for a wide range of positions.
  • Recruitment experience with digital positions preferred
  • Degree in a related field with high academic achievement
  • High level of proficiency in proactive social media and traditional recruitment methods
  • Knowledge of employment law
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with outstanding editing skills and strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment with multiple priorities
  • Excellent judgment and discretion a must
  • Must be flexible and able to work well independently as well as collaboratively in a team based environment
  • Exceptional organizational and strong follow-through skills
  • Interest in American foreign policy strongly preferred
