DIRECTOR OF EXTERNAL RELATIONS, NEW YORK

As Director of External Relations, you will:

Drive business development for Citizen Schools New York, bringing in new corporate partnerships and serving as the primary steward of our most important donor relationships. You will take on a tremendous opportunity as a relentlessly goal-oriented, ambitious networker who never turns down an opportunity to "get to yes" with growth potential as the organization expands.

You will also take on a newly developed role that will require an independent spirit and a passion for external engagement. Reporting to the Managing Director, External Relations, you will contribute to the ambitious growth goals of CSNY as we move to serve over 1,500 students in the 2014 - 2015 school year. This will require unprecedented support from our most committed corporate partners and major donors, and you will be a critical player in achieving this goal.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Corporate Partnerships (75%)

  • Serve as primary relationship manager for existing long-term corporate partners.
  • Expand CSNY's corporate partnership (funding and volunteerism) portfolio through new business development.
  • Partner with Director, Civic Engagement to ensure an outstanding volunteer experience for corporate volunteers.
  • Serve as a brand ambassador for Citizen Schools New York, pitching opportunities to give both time and money to support our program.

Individual Donors & Major Gifts (25%)

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive individual giving strategy focused on high net worth individuals giving at the $10k+ level.
  • Identify and cultivate relationships with high net worth individuals working within existing institutional partnerships.

Experience and other requirements:

  • Fundamental belief in the ability of all children to succeed in school and in life, on an absolute scale
  • At least 5 years of direct experience in fundraising, relationship management, and/or prospect development
  • Commitment to our expanded learning time model and keen desire to work in an entrepreneurial, fast-paced, data-driven organization
  • Ability to model Citizen Schools' core values: Pride, Joy, Respect, Courage, Teamwork, Perseverance, and Vision
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution required
  • Willingness and ability to work evenings as necessary
