Association ou organisation à but non lucratif

Dernière mise à jour : 11 nov. 2013 20:34:17

Founded in 2011 by Ana Lita, Ph.D. and Charles Debrovner, M.D., the Global Bioethics Initiative concentrates on the disparity between wealth and poverty, and the public health issues it creates. Global Bioethics Initiative (GBI), headquartered in New York City, is an international non-governmental organization and a project of the Fund for the City of New York (FCNY), for fiscal sponsorship.

GBI is dedicated to improving the quality of life and access tohealth careof vulnerable populations throughout the world. GBI fosters a deeper understanding of the intersection of ethics, global health, human rights, and biotechnology through the use of research and policy change recommendations.

Alleviate Suffering, Prevent Premature Death, Promote Well-being

GBI envisions a world free from needless suffering and premature death. We understand that suffering and loss of life can be successfully diminished and prevented with willingness and a just distribution of resources.

  • To inform and educate by providing fact-based data from all sides of an issue.
  • To make policy and implementation suggestions guided by our expertise and core values.
  • To explore and promote solutions to global health problems.

The Initiative carries out its mission by providing a forum for convening scholars, government and international organization officials, health care professionals, and community leaders to develop innovative solutions to global problems, including:

  • organ and human trafficking
  • reproductive and sexual rights
  • stem cell research and therapeutic applications
  • end-of-life care and decision-making, perspectives on aging, among others

The Initiative leverages the knowledge and experience of experts and other professionals in government, academia, and private industry as well as its own Advisory Board.

With offices at 777 UN Plaza, overlooking the United Nations headquarters in New York City, the Initiative is a fully-independent, not-for-profit organization.
