Founded in 1999, the Harpeth River Watershed Association is a science-based conservation organization dedicated to protecting the State Scenic Harpeth River in Tennessee. The Harpeth River is one of many richly biodvierse freshwater systems in the Southeast, a region which contains a greater variety of fish and aquatic life than anywhere else in the world. The Harpeth is also one of the most archaeologically and historically significant rivers in the state and flows through the heart of one of the fastest growing regions of the country. HRWA's mission extends through the entire watershed, which is home to over one million people, all of whom use the Harpeth River for a variety of purposes: recreation, fishing, drinking water, and treated effluent discharges. Our work is critical to protecting this vital natural treasure for the benefit of both the people and the wildlife that reside there.
