Description

Chrysalis is a nonprofit organization in Los Angeles dedicated to creating a pathway to self-sufficiency for homeless and low-income individuals by providing the resources and support needed to find and retain employment.

Each Client in this program enrolls in on-site job training classes and receives job readiness services including search strategies, resume writing, interview preparation and basic computer training. Clients also receive on-site support services such as telephone and facsimile access, voicemail, a message center, clothing and transportation for interviews, and a temporary address for contact information by prospective employers. Each Client works closely with their Employment Specialist to construct an individualized employment plan to pursue short and long term goals and receive referrals for housing, child-care and/or health services.

Since 1984, Chrysalis has assisted over 35,000 individuals, providing them with a hand-up, rather than a hand-out at three centers located where pockets of poverty are most pervasive: Skid Row in Downtown Los Angeles, Santa Monica, and the San Fernando Valley.
