Awaiting Angels Volunteering Program is different from the majority of other programs in that Awaiting Angels is a local organization and charges to volunteers a small administrative fee to fund our activities; and a just amount to cover food and; family like accommodation.
Awaiting Angels is a self sustaining grassroots Peruvian organization; we have a small but effective administrative staff and do not rely on government or institutional support.
Teacher Assistant Volunteering Program
This is a great opportunity for anyone who enjoys working with children and teens and who possess strong communication, leadership and supervisory skills.
Learn while helping others and experience popular and interactive school programs first-hand. There is an average of 30 attendants per classroom.
Where to volunteer
What kind of skills do I need?
Experience of working with children is certainly an asset but not essential. However, a love for children, plenty of patience and understanding, and enthusiasm is very important. You do not need formal teaching qualifications or formal teacher training. You do however need a good grasp of the Spanish language and plenty of enthusiasm and confidence.
Your role as a volunteer
You will be volunteering in a classroom environment, which may involve formal teaching, conversation class, singing songs and playing games, helping to the teachers to put order in class, check homework, exams, etc.
4-5 hours/day - 5 days a week (volunteers are reminded to remain flexible)
Spanish level Intermediate
Locations available Cusco, Arequipa, Iquitos, Ica, Pisco, Lima
Recommended minimum volunteer commitment 2 weeks
