Uhambo provides African-appropriate wheelchairs and related mobility services to people with disabilities in Southern Africa. All of Uhambo products are made in South Africa by a social enterprise whose workforce partially consists of people with disabilities.

Uhambo aims to:

Conduct research in Africa on the impact on quality of life and the health economics of appropriate and inappropriate chairs
Provide appropriate products and services by fundraising
Educate and create awareness in the U.S. of disability issues in South Africa
Influence leaders in the international development, global health and disability arenas
Partner with the private sector, international NGOs and nonprofits on relevant initiatives in Southern Africa.
