Description

Pestalozzi Overseas Children's Trust is part of an umbrella group of organisations known as PestalozziWorld. It was founded in 1995 to advance the education of deprived children, especially girls, in Africa and Asia through the holistic principles of Swiss humanitarian, Johann Pestalozzi - "Head, Heart and Hands". PestalozziWorld is currently funding scholarships for 350 children in India, Nepal, Thailand, Malawi and Zambia.

Its newest programme is the Pestalozzi Children's Village in Dehradun, Northern India, which aims to provide a home for up to 200 children from Nepal, Tibet and India, whilst they pursue their secondary education at local schools. Children, who are academically bright, but from poor, mainly rural families, are selected by local Pestalozzi alumni foundations. Academic education ("Head) is supplemented by practical skills training ("Hands"), and learning how to work together and care for one another ("Heart").
