African Orphanage is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing Christ-centered services to HIV/AIDS orphans and poor rural communities in Kenya. We are always looking for volunteers to help with our work. We offer exciting short-term and long-term volunteer opportunities. Our volunteer placements are open to people of all ages and backgrounds, regardless of nationality or qualifications. Volunteers truly experience traditional Kenyan life and participate in daily activities such as cooking over an open fire, collecting water from the well, playing & teaching children, general construction work, assisting in the vegetable garden as well as outreach programs.
African Orphanage is dedicated to providing residential care to orphans and vulnerable children; while ensuring their physical, emotional, social and spiritual development is nurtured by consistent encouragement instilling within each individual a model of love, safety, purpose, productivity, service to others and trust in God.
African Orphanage is situated on the valley of Ithanga Hills in the eastern province of Kenya, approximately 95 kilometers away from Nairobi city. The area is known for being very rural life, friendly people, fresh air and beautiful landscapes.
