Description

VISIONS promotes the independence of people of all ages who are blind or visually impaired. VISIONS is a not-for-profit rehabilitation and social service organization that offers direct services, public education, and an audiobook/textbook publications series. VISIONS programs focus on blind and visually impaired persons with special needs including elders, teens in transition from school to work, people with multiple disabilities, ethnically diverse populations, and people whose preferred language is other than English. Based in NYC with a year round residential vision rehabilitation and training center located in Rockland County (VISIONS Center on Blindness - VCB), NY, VISIONS history dates back to 1868, with services incorporated in 1926. A multilingual and multicultural staff works with over 5000 people annually in individual and group programs. VISIONS at Selis Manor is a community center in Manhattan for blind youth, adults and seniors who are blind. VISIONS recently opened a innovative senior center, the first one in the nation, which operates out of VISIONS at Selis Manor in Manhattan. All of VISIONS services are free.
