Founded in 1974 by photographer Cornell Capa with the mission of presenting "concerned photography" to the public, the International Center of Photography is a world-renowned museum and school devoted to the presentation, preservation, and study of photography.

The ICP school, library, and administrative offices are located in midtown Manhattan. ICP maintains a year-round schedule of in-house exhibition and education programs, an international traveling exhibitions program, a collection of more than 90,000 original prints and an in-depth resource library for photographic research.

ICP operates an extensive full-time and continuing adult continuing education program, serving 5,000 persons annually. Public Programs educate and broaden audiences for photography through gallery talks, lectures, and symposia while Community Programs educate and broaden audiences for photography through the implementation of creative and varied photography programming.
