The Recreation Project mission: The inspire the resilience of young people in post-conflict communities by providing active healing experiences through adventure-based therapy and sports. We have been working in northern Uganda since 2009 and have recently started activities in the US.
Day Program: A guided ropes course program that engages students and youth groups in experiential learning to teach life skilles such as: leadership, communication, decision-making, creative thinking, problem solving, among others. To date over 5000 youth have participated in the day program.
Climbing Club: The climbing club meets weekly and has 25 participants. After learning technical climbing skills TRP takes the youth on a 3-day wilderness excursion.
Baseball: The baseball program is active in three schools and reaches over 1000 kids per year. Children from the schools also have the opportunity to compete in national and international competition.
All of our programs are for charitable purposes and are geared towards restoring a positive outlook for the future among youth people in Gulu, Uganda.
