Oxfam Action Corps NYC is a part of the Oxfam America Action Corps, a national volunteer initiative in 14 cities leading a coordinated charge to improve national legislation and deepen local community resources for fighting poverty and injustice. Our current campaign, GROW, focuses on building a better food system: one that sustainably feeds a growing population and empowers poor people to earn a living, feed their families, and thrive.

When you volunteer with the Oxfam Action Corps NYC, you might attend our twice-monthly meetings, attend a house party or collect signatures at a concert. You could join a delegation to a lawmaker's local office, organize a petition drive, or plan an Oxfam America Hunger Banquet® event. Anyone is welcome to volunteer, regardless of age or experience level—all you need is a willingness to make a difference.

Here's what two volunteers said about their experiences:

"As an activist, I had done fundraising. But the Oxfam Action Corps was about public education and raising awareness, and I found people really appreciated my work," said Khadija Lynch, a mechanical engineer from Pennsylvania.
"My work with the Oxfam Action Corps has helped immensely in building organizing and mobilization skills. It was a great way for me to start reaching out and getting to know the people in the community," said Julie Johnson, an assistant office manager from Colorado.

Volunteers receive continuing support from Oxfam, including campaign materials, strategy tips, and advice on community organizing. Each city has two trained Volunteer Corps organizers who welcome and orient volunteers throughout the year.
