Description

The American City Coalition is a nonprofit organization founded in 1994 to promote best practices and innovation in neighborhood revitalization. TACC showcased innovations that evolved from the redevelopment of the Columbia Point public housing project. The transformation of this community into Harbor Point and a mixed-income development served as a national model. TACC successfully demonstrated how community advocates, elected officials, developers, and residents effectively collaborate to build a neighborhood.

TACC'S vision is for urban families to flourish in a safe environment and to benefit from the full economic opportunities of great American cities. Revitalizing neighborhoods is about much more than buildings. TACC leverages resources from the private sector, government and foundations to support multi-sector strategies and programs that revitalize distressed urban areas. Using an evidence based approach, TACC delivers services that increase employment opportunity, enhance human capital and deliver vital social services that complement progressive housing development and policy.
