Explore Long Island's rich rural and agricultural heritage!
Hallockville is a not-for-profit museum farm listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Our mission at Hallockville is to re-connect the community with our shared agricultural heritage. The land is located in a New York State designated historic corridor within the town of Riverhead. Hallockville is the only place in Suffolk County where you will find history combined with a working farmstead. Our 28-acre campus has 19 historic buildings spanning 250 years of North Fork heritage. Animals, gardens, and farmland are all important elements of our working landscape. In addition, Hallockville is part of over 500 acres of preserved land that stretches to the Long Island Sound.
Since its founding 35 years ago, Hallockville has interpreted over two centuries of Long Island's agricultural history. This includes the heritage of the Hallock family and other descendants of the area's original Puritan settlers. During the late 19th and early 20th centuries, large numbers of immigrants arrived from Poland and other eastern European countries to work on local farms.
Hallockville's educational programs interpret our regions rich agricultural and rural heritage. Our programming will compliment and enhance your curriculum and enrich your students' educational experience.
