About Purpose Prep
Purpose Preparatory Academy Charter School is an academically challenging, disciplined, and joyful elementary school in Nashville, TN. We open our doors to an inaugural class of 90 Kindergarteners this fall. Through rigorous curriculum, high-quality instruction, and positive character development, Purpose Preparatory Academy ensures that all Kindergarten through grade four students achieve the academic skills, knowledge, and ethical foundation to be set on the path to college.
"Intelligence plus character - that is the goal of true education. The complete education gives one not only power of concentration, but worthy objectives upon which to concentrate." This statement by Martin Luther King, Jr. captures Purpose Prep's vision of education. We instill in Purpose Prep scholars a strong academic and character foundation that firmly underpins school and life success. Purpose Prep scholars read, write and speak at proficient and masterful levels in the elementary grades that set a foundation towards high levels of learning throughout middle and high school, and on the path to college.
The Need For Purpose Prep
In North Nashville, only 1 out of 4 students can read, write, and compute on grade level; 75% of children lack the academic foundation at the elementary level that is necessary for college success. This reality does not have to exist, and we have the power to change this by providing an excellent school to the families of this community. The highest performing schools across the nation have influenced the school model of Purpose Prep, and the leadership of Purpose Prep has been extensively trained through Building Excellent Schools, an organization with a proven track record of founding, developing, and delivering on-going support to the nation's highest performing charter schools. Unwaveringly focused on our college mission and our commitment to excellence, Purpose Prep will ensure scholars are able to read, write and speak at proficient and masterful levels in the elementary grades that set a foundation towards high levels of learning throughout middle and high school, and on the path to college.
