Description du programme

Motivated individuals with a genuine interest in helping kids have a better quality and more productive learning experience are invited to join and work with the remote and rural community kids living nearby Liwonde National Park. It's the chance to get closely involved with nursery, primary and secondary schools as well as clubs and out of school activities.

What will I be doing?

You'll work across a range of high-impact education focussed projects. You won't be replacing local teaching jobs, that's for sure, but working closely alongside them. Depending on your interests and what your background is, you could be teaching the teachers in new methodologies, leading innovative educational excursions into local forests, running sports events or getting creative and developing resourceful teaching materials. All tasks aim to enhance the learning environment and experience for the younger generation – making it interactive, enjoyable and more effective.

You'll be well supported on the ground by the team, and we encourage all our volunteers – working across all projects to help each other and work together with the community to improve quality of living in Liwonde. It's an inspiring opportunity to work closely with kids, as well as teachers, and gain hands-on meaningful experience that will stay with you forever.

Where will I live?

We want to make your trip as comfortable as possible and give you a nice home to live in whilst you generously share your time to help the rural communities bordering Bwindi. You'll live in a shared volunteer house situated within a quiet little village and there are fantastic sweeping views of Bwindi forest right from the garden. It's remote and there's no electricity or piped water here so we run on solar power and harvest bathing water. It's a truly eco experience with a bit of a luxury edge!

Who can go?

The range of roles we'd like to fill is diverse and we need lots of enthusiastic individuals with a range of skills and interests to make a difference. You don't need a degree in conservation to join us…. the only thing we ask is that you're over 18 and have the right attitude to volunteering and living in rural Africa, a strong work ethic and team spirit.

When can I go and how long can I stay?

There's two monthly intake dates throughout the year...just tell us when you'd like to go and we'll match you up with the nearest date with availability. You can stay from just two weeks up to 12 months - although the longer the better to really get stuck in.

What's the cost?

There is a program fee to join our team in Malawi. Costs from $1595 for 2 weeks but this includes everything to ensure you have a seamless and unforgettable experience and make big impacts on the ground. We look after all of your accommodation, food and drinking water, local transport, in-country transfers, personal placement design, orientation and excellent project management and support before, during and after your expedition. You just need to budget for your international flights, visa and very minimal spending money once you're out there.

Free time & travel:

There are loads of activities to suit different interests right on our doorstep. The amazing Lake Malawi is not far away and perfect for weekend trips, or you could explore Liwonde National Park - it's one of Malawi's premier and most scenic wildlife destinations.
