I went to law school to do be able to do social justice work, focusing on the rule of law and enhancing governmental structures to ensure full access and fairness. After law school, I focused on the injustices of the juvenile justice system, access to counsel, and coordinating experts in the field to raise the bar in juvenile defense.
I have design skills, social media industry best practices, and know that effective communication requires understanding who your key audiences are, the ability to craft a compelling narrative arc, and the skill to utilize available tools.
Designed and implemented social media strategy to engage key leadership development audiences - retreat participants, clergy, lay leaders, and almost 300 alumni - through e-newsletters, videocasts, podcasts, Facebook, blog, and retreat resources website.
Created new media presence, grew niche community from zero to 1,000+ Facebook likes and 500+ friends, with an e-newsletter open rate of 35-40% (industry standard for non-profits 20%), and 2,500+ e-list members.
Facilitated complete re-brand and website overhaul with consultants (Big Duck and Gravitate Design Studio); did strategy, branding and design for six year-end-appeals (raised over $360,000) for non-profit with $1.5 million budget and for 2011 "Rachel Campaign" raising over $1.8 million in gifts and pledges.
I've planned and executed 300 person national conferences and worked in 15-20 organization coalitions. I have managed a large scale national and international social justice campaign and worked with small, intimate and transformative retreat based change. I am skilled at bringing together experts and organizations to support communities in need. And with a political theory background, a law degree, and a degree in fine arts - I have critical, theoretical, visual, and creative skills that most strictly analytical people do not.
