Anyone who wants to help animals.
I work in the nonprofit realm and teach college courses. Here's how that happened.
I got a PhD in political science at the University of Florida. In the course of doing that, I learned a lot of things: How to think, how to write, how to teach, how to communicate, how to complete really big projects that have lots of moving parts, how to stay up all night to get things done, and how to balance responsibilities so that I don't have to stay up all night to get things done. I finished that in the fall of 2009. Then I bid farewell to the Gator Nation and shuffled off to California.
In San Diego, I began working in the nonprofit sector. I ran a campaign to improve the welfare of farm animals, which made an impact on some really big problems. Before long, I struck out on my own and founded America for Animals. While still in its early stages, the organization promises to help a lot of animals by empowering advocates nationwide. More to come on that.
When not fighting for the critters, I teach part-time. This semester, I am teaching a course titled "Food Politics in the USA" at the University of San Diego.
