Many organizations across the world make money from people volunteering and its only natural a very big business has sprung from this. But with the introduction and education of people living in the country where the volunteering takes place its become far easier for potential volunteers to by-pass the big companies and apply straight to the grass roots organizations themselves. Which save a lot of money for the volunteer and gives them chance to explore more of the country they are visiting?
One such organization is Experience Himalayan Nepal, a small Non profit organization based in Kathmandu with friends across the world. We keep a small office in KTM costing us £50 a month to run, expenses for the people working there are kept low so we can actually give far more money to our projects. And with EHN policy of developing each place we are working with it shows that by volunteering with us it can and will make that difference.
