Volunteer Role: Slum School English Teacher
Description:To help class one to class four pupils in Nairobi's Soweto slums learn to read.
Supervisor:V4FK Coordinator
Responsibilities:
- Organize class into small groups for learning
- Prepare teaching materials (provided) for teaching lessons
- Offer basic instruction in grammar, making use of V4FK teaching materials
- Help young pupils build their vocabulary
- Stimulate a fun learning environment for the pupils
Desired Qualifications:
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to get along with others
- Fluency in English
- Good planning skills
- Tolerance for working in Kenyan slum environment
