Overview of Responsibilities:
Seva seeks an International Volunteer Coordinator to support the activities of the organization by managing volunteer placements with our program partners across Africa, Asia and Latin America. We estimate the position to require approximately 12 hours a week. Preference will be given to candidates interested in a one year commitment.
This is an unpaid volunteer position, with the possibility of becoming a part-time paid position in the future.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work with Seva Berkeley staff and program partners to identify areas of needed volunteer support and update website to solicit applications for specific volunteer openings
- Review applications and track status of all applicants
- Conduct preliminary interviews to screen volunteers
- Identify best potential volunteers and schedule more in-depth interviews with Seva's Program Directors and key previous volunteers
- Follow-up with Directors on volunteers' potential program placement
- Initiate and oversee contact between volunteers and Seva's partners
- Assist volunteers in planning for their program visit
- Follow-up with volunteers on their experience and collect in-kind forms
- Gather feedback from programs on the volunteers' impact and suggestions for improving volunteer placements
- Compile volunteer testimonials to further promote the program on Seva's website
Requirements:
- Basic computer proficiency
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
- Ability to volunteer 12 hours a week at Seva's headquarters in Berkeley
- Able to work in a fast paced environment
- Strong organizational skills
- Good communication skills; experience with cross-cultural communication preferred
- Desire to support Seva's programs
