Quest Center for Integrative Health is a nonprofit, community integrative health center located on Portland's east side. Quest began by serving men infected with HIV and over its 19 years has branched out to offer services to anyone living with a chronic illness or wanting to make a positive change in their lives. The W.O.W. (Women of Wisdom) program at Quest serves women living with HIV/AIDS and their children. Women come together for peer support, meals, activities, and group counseling.
Almost every participant of W.O.W. is low-income and appreciates any support they can get. We are currently trying to create a group of part-time volunteers that are interested in sharing their skills with our program. We have multiple positions available. Including assistance with cooking for support groups on Monday mornings and Wednesday evenings, working with children affected by HIV on Wednesday nights, helping secure donations for HIV positive women in the community, and supporting our outreach efforts. If you have special skills such as massage, gardening skills, cooking experience, or anything else you feel would be of use for women with HIV, we'd love to have you come share your expertise or knowledge at one of our support groups.
We would like to provide any interested members of the community with the opportunity to participate in this program. It would be a rewarding experience and beneficial to anyone interested in child care, education, wellness, HIV/AIDS, women's health, or human services.
If you are interested in making a difference in your community, please contact me for further information.
