Mentoring Volunteer Opportunity!!!
(Friday's from 1pm-2pm)
ABOUT THE FORTUNE SOCIETY
The Fortune Society's mission is to support successful re-entry from prison and promote alternatives to incarceration, thus strengthening the fabric of our communities. We do this by: BELIEVING in the power of individuals to change; BUILDING LIVES through service programs shaped by the needs and experiences of our clients; CHANGING MINDS through education and advocacy that work to rectify unjust and brutal criminal justice policies.
The Fortune Society's Employment Services unit provides job training and related support services to Fortune Society clients at various stages of their job search. Clients progress through a meaningfully constructed continuum of program activities that prepare them for employment. Participation in program activities is guided and tracked by Career Advisors and Account Managers, who are assigned to each participant.
Recognizing that recently incarcerated persons often need an array of wraparound services, Project Compass makes every effort to ensure that participants are able to address health, mental health, education, and supportive service needs through their enrollment in the program. Participants receive any and all supportive services they need, either through internal or external referrals. Mentorship services are offered and provided, as are clothing referrals and legal assistance. Friday Mentoring activities will be based in our Long Island City headquarters from 1pm until 2pm weekly.
