Uganda Youth and Women's Effort Fighting AIDS (UYWEFA) supports people living with and affected by HIV/AIDS. UYWEFA provides education support, economic empowerment, home based care and youth activites. UYWEFA's long-term objective is to ensure people affected by HIV/AIDS in our community have access to healthcare and education opportunities in order to be able to provide for their and their family's needs. UYWEFA is serves the community of Kazo, approximately 20 kilometers outside of Kampala, Uganda.
In kazo, there is increasing no. school dropouts due to early pregnancies. This is because kazo is boardering kimumbasa, one of the biggest prostitution centres in kampala kawempe division. The high level of poverty and high rate of HIV in the community has left the youth without parents, these have resorted to prostitution as source of income.
The Innovation center under the UYWEFA umbrella empowers vulnerable youth most especially the young mothers by providing technical training in various fields such as tailoring, music and dance, candle making, leadership skils etc. The attained skills provide a chance for the youth to get involved in business hence being able to sustain themselves and not get engaged in prostitution.
UYWEFA innovation center is seeking a volunteer to serve in the filming sect. The volunteer will meet with the trainees on an individual basis to provide support and training in music, dance and drama ; they will also facilitate group gatherings.
