Volunteer Impact: Volunteers for the Junior's Game Room will be responsible for assisting in the guidance, supervision, and safety of BCNY's youngest population of members, aged 10 to 13. He/She will serve as a model for positive social interactions through combined academic, social, and recreational programming for BCNY members.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise and coordinate activities for small groups alongside the Program Assistants
- Lead games and activities in organized station model in indoor environment
- Provide fun, meaningful enrichment activities
- Supervise the movement of member in activity rooms, cafeteria, play roofs, gymnasiums, and on field trip to ensure safety
- Provide guidance, problem-solving facilitation, and use appropriate strategies to diffuse inappropriate behavior
- Ensure proper care of all game room materials takes place, organize game room, and report any misused or damaged materials to the department director
Qualifications:
- Child Development, Education, Social Work, Psychology, Human Services, Event Planning, Sports Management, and other highly relevant majors are encouraged to apply
- Interest in pursuing a career working with or instructing youth Commit to sharing knowledge and contributing to youth and community development
- Knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices
- At least one to two years of experience working with children in 10-13 age group, preferably in a group setting
