Uganda Youth and Women's Effort Fighting AIDS (UYWEFA) is a grassroots organization that supports people living with and affected by HIV/AIDS. The long-term objective is to ensure people affected by HIV/AIDS in the community have access to healthcare and education opportunities in order to be able to provide for their and their family's needs. UYWEFA serves the community of Kazo, approximately 20 kilometers outside of Kampala, Uganda.
UYWEFA Education Centre started as a nursery in 2011 offering reduced cost education for orphans and vulnerable children. In January 2013 UYWEFA Education Centre was transformed, becoming UYWEFA International Education Centre. The new Centre began with a focus on English education with international volunteers contributing to the work of the school.
At this time UYWEFA International Education Centre expanded to include primary one, two and three, in addition to nursery classes and four new teachers were added to the staff. This rapid expansion was a challenge but was met with a dedication to provide superior quality education at a low cost.
In May 2013 UYWEFA International Education Centre concluded a very successful first term with over 150 students completing the first term examinations. We are excited to continue the first year of UYWEFA International Education Centre, growing and improving the education that is being provided. Currently, temporary facilities are being expanded to accommodate Primary 4 classes (from Feb 2014).
UYWEFA is seeking a skilled and competent intern who can serve as an instructor in the UYWEFA International Education Centre.
Provide a C.V./resume, 2 references, and a cover letter detailing their motivation for joining a grass roots organization in Africa (apply firstname.lastname@example.org)
