Help Paper Kite create a Unique Online Community!

Summary:

Paper Kite is looking for a motivated multi-tasker with excellent communication skills to support the growth and success of Paper Kite's online community. This volunteer position will serve to activate, support and grow our online community and platform to ensure that our supporters and donors have a medium to communicate with us as well as are well informed of our progress in Bihar, India.

Background:

We are Paper Kite Children's Foundation, a non-profit charity working to ensure that basic necessities are available to orphanages in the state of Bihar, India. As a 100% volunteer-operated organization, we are dedicated to empowering children to fulfill their aspirations, and end the cycle of poverty.

Responsibilities:

You will be responsible for growing and engaging our community of supporters and donors. You will also work with the planning committee in Vancouver to promote Paper Kite in your local community.

Primary:

  • Promote local initiatives via social media channels such as Facebook and Twitter
  • Drive, respond and monitor engagement on social media (Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, etc.)
  • Educate and raise awareness of Paper Kite through social media
  • Research related content and share with Paper Kite community

Secondary

  • Participate in planning and execution of events in local chapter (i.e. Toronto, Vancouver, Ottawa)
  • Conduct web analysis to assess and optimize user engagement

Requirements:

  • Experience with Social Media universe including Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Blog, Flickr and Pinterest. Experience in these areas in a professional setting preferred.
  • Experience in Communications and/or PR
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Passionate about working in a grassroots organization
  • Has a positive attitude and is enthusiastic about our cause
  • Access to email and internet

Time Commitment:

  • 2-4 hours per week during the day, evening, or weekend as needed
  • Term: 1 year
  • Location: Flexible
  • Meetings: Once per month throughout the position term
