White Plains, New York
Part-time volunteer receptionist wanted to cover our reception desk, Monday through Thursday from 12 – 4 p.m. for a minimum of 3 months. The ideal candidate will be a caring and compassionate person who enjoys serving the community and supports the nonprofit work we do. The advantages for the volunteer include the satisfaction of serving those in need; building your resume, improving your administrative and social skills, and camaraderie with the 30 professional staff who work here. The volunteer would also be considered for appropriate paid positions that become available in the future, if they wish. Retirees welcome.
WRO is a 43-year old housing counseling agency founded in 1968 to enhance equal housing opportunities for all residents of the lower Hudson Valley region of New York. At the heart of our mission is our Fair Housing Program, which works to eradicate discrimination in housing through the enforcement of the fair housing and fair lending laws. We also provide free counseling to seniors experiencing housing issues; residents facing mortgage foreclosure, eviction and homelessness; residents who are interested in financial education to help them become first-time homebuyers; and residents recovering from mental illness who need supported housing to avoid institutionalization.
The receptionist will be responsible for answering and directing phone calls, greeting clients, alerting staff to appointment arrivals and light clerical work (filing, light typing and data entry).
To apply, please send cover letter and resume to Nneka Reed, Director of Human Resources, at email@example.com.
