THT is looking for motivated volunteers for our new Health, Wealth and Happiness
project supporting the wellbeing of over 50s living with HIV in London.
We need volunteers to become mentors on our peer mentoring services, providing community-based one-to-one support to persons over 50 living with HIV. We aim to provide support for the financial, emotional, and physical wellbeing of service users.
We are looking for people who can commit to three or six months, depending on the needs of the individual service user.
THT will provide training and reimburse travel costs for each volunteer.
No special qualifications are required to become a mentor, full training will be
provided, however, an interest in and understanding of challenges faced by people living
with HIV is essential. However volunteers are required to
- have a mature attitude
- be non-judgmental
- show empathy
- be reliable
- and have some knowledge of issues around HIV
