Description du poste bénévole

In 2013, Pacific Biodiversity Institute will be leading four trips in Argentina to explore the tremendous biodiversity and beautiful landscapes found in some of the largest wild lands left on Earth. Learn more at www.pacificbio.org.

Here is the list of dates and locations for our next set of expeditions:

  • Sierra de Famatina to Ojos de Salado - February 18 to March 2, 2013
  • Nevado de Cachi to Laguna Blanca - March 9 to 22, 2013
  • Valle de Fiambala to Volcon Llullaillaco - March 25 to April 7, 2013
  • Sierra de Zenta - April 11 to 23, 2013; late November to early December 2013

PBI is seeking people with diverse interests and expertise who are also interested in biodiversity conservation.

Are you a birder with a life list? We've been overwhelmed with the bird diversity of these big wild areas, including some species that are quite rare. Come to see the Andean flamingo, one of the rarest flamingos in the world. Help us create a comprehensive bird list for each area we explore.

Or perhaps you are more interested in native plants? These wildlands are a global hotspot for plant diversity. You will enjoy the diversity of cacti species – over a hundred species in one mountain range. Help us document and catalog this incredible diversity.

More of an alpine person? These wildlands claim the highest volcano in the world, and the second, third, fourth and fifth highest peaks in the western hemisphere. They also contain lush low-elevation forests, diverse wetlands, amazing deserts, wild river canyons, and more.

Mining companies, road builders, loggers, and other developers are rushing to explore and exploit these areas. PBI is looking for people who wish to help explore and document these areas and help suport local protection efforts for these critical wildland and biodiversity resources. This is not your chance to see these areas before they are destroyed. This is your chance to help see that these areas are never destroyed. And to do so while having the time of your life, immersed in the great beauty of wilderness.

When we are not camping, we spend time in the communities that surround these wildlands, getting to know the local people, learning how they use and feel about the land around them and enjoying their hospitality and cuisine.

These biodiversity expeditions are coming right up, but we still have spaces available.Participation fees for this non-profit activity range from $2,900 to $3,400. If you are curious about participating, please contact us right away. Email bigwild@pacificbio.org.
