Village Empowerment Academy is an educational institute situated in Sri Lanka, registered as a non for profit company. We teach English and I.T. to children and youth, currently in Batticaloa district, in 2 centres situated in town and in rural area. Our aim, reflected in our motto "Education for All !!!" is to expand the knowledge of English and I.T. amongst Sri Lankan people, including amongst the underprivileged sections of the society.
We are looking for committed individuals with a good level of English to spend some time with us teaching our students.
This is a valuable opportunity for people from different countries and backgrounds to discover other cultures, by joining us for a few weeks or months.
You will be welcomed and briefed by our team. You will be expected to organize activity classes for children and teenagers according to a predefined schedule. You will also support our team to develop curriculums adapted to the different levels of English we teach.
There is also a possibility for our guest teachers to contribute to the development of the website we have created to promote tourism in our district: www.welcometobatticaloa.com. We also would like to develop more cultural events and activities. Volunteers can have a crucial role to play here.
You will have time to discover and enjoy Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka is a beautiful country with gorgeous natural and cultural spots. Our institute is situated in a coastal area, an ideal place for sea lovers. You will experience the kindness and helpfulness of Sri Lankan people, and interact a lot with our students who are eager to communicate with foreigners.
You will be in charge of your living expenses, such as transport and food. Basic accommodation facilities can be provided against a small contribution. During all of your stay, you will be guided by our team members.
